How to Find Tools and Parts
Start by completely powering off the iPhone 12 Mini.
Next, remove the SIM tray, and then unscrew the two Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge of the phone. These screws keep the screen tightly secured to the frame.
The screen is held with strong waterproof adhesive.
Gently warm the edges of your phone using a heat gun, heat pad, or even a hairdryer.
Do not overheat—just warm enough to soften the seal.
Place the suction cup on the lower section of the front screen and start lifting. Once you see a small gap, slide in a plastic picker and slowly work your way around the device to break the adhesive and rubber gasket.
Once the adhesive is detached, open the screen from the left side (book style).
Inside, you’ll see the shield plate sitting over the battery connector.
Remove the screws securing the small bottom plate and disconnect the battery. This is important to avoid short circuits.
Move to the top section and remove the larger plate by taking out the five screws.
Under this shield, you’ll find the LCD connector and earpiece flex connector.
Disconnect them carefully to fully separate the display from the device.
Now the broken screen can be taken away.
The iPhone 12 Mini’s earpiece and sensor assembly must be moved from the old screen to the new one.
Remove the four screws holding the earpiece/sensor module.
Gently peel the flex cable—this area is sensitive, so take your time.
Attach the module to the new display and tighten the four screws.
Ensure the components are aligned perfectly, especially the sensor window.
Before reassembling, connect the new screen temporarily and turn on the phone.
Check touch response, display clarity, and FaceID sensors (if applicable).
This prevents having to reopen the phone again.
Apply the pre-cut waterproof seal to the frame.
Remember, this adhesive improves resistance but will NOT restore Apple’s original waterproofing.
Reconnect:
Reinstall the two shield plates—the top plate with five screws and the bottom plate with one screw.
Next, close the phone by aligning the top first, then pressing down both sides and the bottom until the clips snap in place.
Insert the SIM tray and tighten the two bottom screws.
And that’s it! Your iPhone 12 Mini should now have a fully working new screen.
