Step 2 — Power Off & Remove SIM Tray

Turn off the phone completely and remove the SIM tray before starting the teardown.

Step 3 — Remove the Back Cover

Gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive.

We’re using a heating pad. Place the back cover facing down, select the Mobile Phone Heating option, and wait until the cycle completes.

If you don’t have a heating pad, you can use a heat gun or hairdryer.
Just be cautious—avoid overheating, as it may damage internal components or warp the back cover.

Once heated, use a suction cup at the bottom area to lift and create a small gap.

Slide a plastic pry card around the edges to cut through the adhesive.
Take your time—be gentle and avoid pushing deep near flex cables.

After releasing all sides, lift and remove the back cover.

Step 4 — Disconnect Buttons & Remove Mid-Frame

Make sure the SIM tray is removed.

Disconnect the power button + fingerprint connector.

Next, remove the 15 mid-frame screws.

Use a plastic card pry tool around the edges to release the clips and separate the mid-frame. Work slowly to avoid breaking any tabs.

Step 5 — Disconnect the Battery

Locate the battery connector and disconnect it first for safety.

Step 6 — Remove the Damaged Battery

Disconnect the main flex cable—two plugs on the logic board side and two more on the charging port board.

Gently pull the battery using the pull tab.
If the pull tab breaks, carefully pry underneath with a plastic tool.
You can apply a little heat to loosen adhesive, but never heat a swollen or damaged battery.

Remove the old battery once fully detached.

Step 7 — Install the New Battery

Place the new battery in position with fresh adhesive.

Reconnect the main flex cable on both ends.

Reconnect the battery connector.

Step 8 — Reassemble the Phone

Place the mid-frame back on and reconnect the fingerprint power button flex.

Insert the SIM tray and reinstall all 15 screws. Make sure all mid-frame clips are properly locked before tightening.

Step 9 — Install the Back Cover

Check if the back cover still has enough adhesive.

If not, apply:

  • B7000 glue, or
  • Double-sided back cover adhesive

Press the back cover firmly.

Use bonding clips for the best results.
If bonding clips are not available, rubber bands can be used to apply even pressure.

Leave it for some time to ensure proper bonding.

 Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if my Samsung Galaxy A16 5G battery needs replacement?

Common signs include rapid battery drain, device shutting down randomly, overheating, or the phone not charging properly even with a working charger.

2. Why should I remove the main flex cable before pulling the battery out?

Removing the main flex prevents accidental tearing of connectors or damage to the logic board during battery removal.

If the issue is due to a weak or dead battery, yes.
