DIY iPhone XS Charging Port Flex | Logic Board Repair Guide

Before starting we need to have the right tools to proceed with the repair which you can find in the description first turn off the phone and remove the sim tray and then undo two bottom screws by using pentalobe screwdriver to take out the screen you need a good suction cup or something similar here we are using a double-sided suction cup to lift the front assembly if not you can use a regular suction cup register screen and a plastic car pry tool or triangle picker for separation and loosen up rubber gaskets on the frame

lift the screen keep the direction like opening a book and then remove 5 screws to take out the shield then undo the touch lcd and earpiece assembly plug

next take out the speaker buzzer and taptic engine by undoing screws take out two shields by undoing three screws and next disconnect the plug to rest the speaker buzzer and pull out the taptic engine by undoing two screws

next take out the battery by peeling the tapes out there are four adhesive tabs one on the top and three more on the battery’s bottom side by using your fingers or tweezer gently pull out the adhesive strips

take out the battery and undo three screws on the logic board and then take out the front camera and face side module by disconnecting three plugs

next disconnect six connector plugs and pull out the logic board safely

now on the charging port undo three screws and take out the shield

next on top of the pot undo three screws while undoing the left and center screw there is one more shield to take out

next by using a tweezer pull out the microphone from the socket

further two more screws are holding the port undo both screws and gently peel the cable from the top make sure to move the other flex cable aside while pulling off the charging

cable a quick note the charging port flex is coming with the microphone as well

next replace the broken charging port flex with a new unit and securely placed on the board

next lock the port with two screws and place the short shield by adding two screws and followed by one more screw

next place the long shield by adding three screws

next verify the charging cable placement and add the logic board by securing two screws and then connect six plugs including the charger port

next place the front face camera by securing the screw when connecting five plugs to the board

next place the battery by adding adhesive into the body

next place the taptic engine by adding two screws and connecting the plug

next place the speaker buzzer into the body by moving the strip and secure the shield by adding two screws then fasten the speaker plug and the shield by adding one more screw

next add the pre-cut water seal adhesive into the frame please note this step will not completely protect the device against the liquid

next connect the front screen to the body first connect the lcd and touch assembly plugs and then lock the board’s earpiece assembly plug make sure the connections are secured and add the shield by adding five screws

now to clap up the iphone click in the top section first then simultaneously click sides on the bottom just make sure to put the pressure on the frame sides

and then finalize the installation by adding the sim tray and two screws in the bottom
