DIY iPhone XS Max Charging Port Repair Guide

Before starting we need to have the right tools to proceed with the repair which you can find in the description first turn off the phone then remove the sim tray and then undo two bottom screws by using a pen tool up a screwdriver

to take out the screen you need good suction cup or something similar here we are using a double-sided suction cup lift the front assembly if not you can use a regular suction cup to rest the screen and a plastic car pry tool or triangular picker for separation and loosen up rubber gaskets on the frame

lift the screen keep the direction like opening the book and then remove five screws to take out the shield then undo the touch lcd and earpieces empty plug

next undo the charger port connector and then connect the new charging port flex to verify the functionality place the LCD assembly back to the board and start testing by doing this we can ensure the working condition of the new replacement part

once the verification has passed disconnect the flex cable

next disconnect the lcd assembly earpiece assembly battery and charging port flex from the board next take out the battery by peeling tapes out there are three adhesive tabs one on the top and two more on the battery’s bottom side by using your finger or tweezer gently pull out the adhesive strips

next to take out the logic board disconnect the connector plugs that are attached to the board first disconnect 9 connector plugs including the charger port and then undo 4 screws on the board

next take out the shield on top of the connector and then gently take out the front camera assembly module

next disconnect two connector plugs near the top left on the board and then gently loosen the board to take it out

next on the bottom take off the backer shield by undoing five screws

next take out the speaker buzzer and tap the engine by undoing screws first undo four screws with the plug and the shield to take out the speaker

next disconnect the plug and pull off the taptic engine by undoing two screws

next undo six screws and gently pull out the broken charging port flex cable make sure to loosen the microphone from the circuit and pull out the shield using a tweezer or something similar

next replace the broken charging port flex with the new unit and securely place it on the board

next lock the port with two screws and place the short shield by adding two screws and again followed by two more screws on the charger port and bottom left

next place the taptic engine by adding two screws and securing the plug

next place the speaker buzzer into the body by moving the strip and connecting the plug and then secure the unit by adding four screws and the shield

next place and secure the bracket shield by adding five screws

next rearrange the cables and generally place the logic board into the body by securing three screws and setting the shield by any one more screw and then connect eight plugs that are attached to the main board including the charging port

next place the front camera assembly module by connecting three plugs into the board

next place and connect the battery by adding adhesive into the body make sure all plugs are secured and then add the pre-cut with adhesive into the frame

next to test the functionality connect the front assembly unit to the logic board and then verify the functionality and secure the shield by adding 5 screws

next to clap up the iphone click in the top section first then simultaneously click sides and the bottom just make sure to put the pressure on the frame sides and then finalize the insulation by adding the sim tray and two screws in the bottom
