Today we are going to show you how to replace the OLED assembly on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G phone. This repair is required when the screen is cracked, completely black, flickering, showing lines, touch not responding, or when the display is physically damaged due to a drop.
This guide is based on a full LCD assembly with the frame installed, which makes the repair easier and safer compared to a display-only replacement. Using a frame-installed screen also helps avoid alignment issues and reduces the risk of panel damage during installation.
LCD replacement is a mid-to-high difficulty level repair, as it requires removing most internal components and transferring them to the new screen frame. Make sure the device is powered off before starting and handle all flex cables gently to prevent damage.
In this guide, we will show you how to safely remove the damaged screen assembly and correctly install a new LCD assembly step by step.
This repair guide based on Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus (S20+) 5G mobile phone, but it is also compatible with Galaxy S20 Plus 4g version too.

Power off the phone completely and remove the SIM tray. Make sure you have the correct tools ready, which are listed in the description.
To remove the back cover, gently heat around the edges to soften the factory adhesive. We are using a heating pad, but a heat gun or a hairdryer can also be used.
Once heated, use a suction cup to create a small gap between the frame and rear cover. Insert a plastic pry tool and carefully cut through the adhesive. Slowly lift and remove the back cover.
Undo five screws securing the wireless charging pad and disconnect the flex cable. Lift out the pad and disconnect the battery plug to cut power from the device.
Undo the five screws holding the logic board frame and carefully lift it away.
Disconnect and lift the front camera from the logic board. Keep it aside in a safe place.
Disconnect the six connector plugs attached to the logic board. Gently lift the board using a plastic pry tool or tweezers.
Apply a small amount of heat and carefully remove the earpiece unit and sensor flex from the body.
Move to the bottom section and undo five screws to remove the secondary board cover with loudspeaker.
Disconnect and remove both main ribbon flex cables. Undo three screws and lift the charging port board.
How to Repair a Charging Port – Step-by-Step Guide
Apply light heat and remove the vibrator motor.
Next, gently heat the battery area to soften the adhesive. Slide a plastic card under the battery to cut the glue and carefully lift it out.
At this point, only the broken front screen assembly remains.
It is recommended to use a screen with frame and buttons installed, which can be original, refurbished, or used. This type of screen is widely available and easier to install.
Start transferring the removed parts to the new screen frame:
Place the battery in the frame and add adhesive if required.
Reconnect four connector plugs and secure the board frame using five screws.
Place the vibrator motor first.
Install the charging port board and secure it with three screws.
Reconnect the main flex cables from both ends.
Place the secondary board cover and secure it with five screws.
Before installing the wireless pad, reconnect the battery plug and power on the device to test the display and touch functionality. Once confirmed working, power off the device.
Reconnect and place the wireless charging pad.
Check the back cover adhesive. If weak, apply B7000 glue or use new double-sided adhesive.
Place the back cover on the frame and press along the edges. Use screen binding clips or rubber bands to hold the back cover in place while the adhesive cures.
Power on the phone and perform a final test. The new LCD assembly should now work perfectly.
Q1: What problems indicate that the LCD assembly needs replacement?
A: Cracked glass, no display, flickering screen, vertical lines, dead pixels, touch not responding, and black screen issues are common signs that the LCD assembly is faulty.
Q2: What is the difference between LCD with frame and display-only replacement?
A: A screen with frame comes pre-mounted and makes the repair easier. Display-only replacements require separating the old screen from the frame, which is more difficult and time-consuming.
Q3: Is it necessary to remove all internal components for this repair?
A: Yes. When replacing a screen with frame, all internal parts such as the battery, logic board, cameras, speakers, and flex cables must be transferred to the new frame.
Q4: Can I test the new screen before fully reassembling the phone?
A: Yes. It is recommended to connect the battery and screen temporarily and power on the device to test display and touch before sealing the back cover.
Q5: Does replacing the LCD affect the phone’s water resistance?
A: Yes. The factory waterproof seal may be lost after opening the device. Using high-quality adhesive helps restore basic sealing, but full water resistance cannot be guaranteed.
Q6: Can a bad screen cause battery drain or overheating?
A: In rare cases, a shorted display flex cable can cause abnormal power draw, which may lead to battery drain or heating issues.
Q7: What should I do if the touch is not working after replacement?
A: Reseat the display flex connector, recheck the logic board connectors, and verify that no flex cables are damaged. A faulty new screen can also cause touch issues.
