How to Find Tools and Parts

How to Safely Remove the Back Cover with a Heating Pad

Step 1 – Remove SIM Tray and Power Off

Turn off the phone completely. Eject the SIM tray and keep it aside. This prevents accidental damage while opening the device.

Step 2 – Heat and Loosen the Back Cover

Place the phone with the back side facing down on a heating pad. Select the mobile phone heating mode and wait for the cycle to finish.
If a heating pad is not available, use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm the edges evenly.

Step 3 – Open the Back Cover

Attach a suction cup to the rear glass and gently pull to create a small gap. Insert a plastic pry card or opening tool and carefully slide it around the edges to cut through the softened adhesive.

Lift and remove the back cover and keep it in a safe place.

Step 4 – Remove Wireless Charging Pad

Unscrew the five screws holding the wireless charging pad. Disconnect the pad’s connector and lift it out of the phone.
Next, disconnect the battery connector plug for safety.

Step 5 – Remove the Speaker Cover

Move to the bottom section of the phone. Remove the five screws securing the speaker cover and lift it out using a plastic pry tool.

Step 6 – Disconnect Ribbon Flex Cables

Locate the two main ribbon flex cables connected to the secondary charging board. Carefully disconnect both cables to free the board from the logic system.

Important Note: Charging Port Board Includes Microphone

On most Samsung Galaxy models, the charging port board comes pre-installed with the primary microphone. This means when the charging port board is damaged, it can also affect:

  • Call audio quality
  • Voice recording
  • Video microphone input
  • Loudspeaker mic during calls

Replacing the full charging port board also replaces the primary microphone automatically, solving multiple issues such as low mic volume, distorted voice during calls, or complete microphone failure.

For best results, always use an original or high-quality replacement charging port board to ensure proper microphone and charging performance.

Step 7 – Remove the Faulty Charging Port Board

Remove the three screws holding the charging port board.
Using tweezers or a plastic pry tool, gently lift out the broken charging port board from the frame.

Step 8 – Install the New Charging Port Board

Place the new charging port board into position. Align it correctly with the frame.
Reconnect the two flex cable connectors and secure the board using the three screws.

Step 9 – Reinstall the Speaker Cover

Put the speaker cover back into place and secure it with the five screws.

Step 10 – Reconnect Battery and Wireless Pad

Reconnect the battery plug.
Place the wireless charging pad back into position, connect its cable, and secure it using the five screws.

Step 11 – Reseal the Back Cover

Check the back cover adhesive. If the adhesive is worn or damaged, apply B7000 glue or install a new double-sided back cover adhesive.

Position the back cover and press firmly around the edges.

Step 12 – Secure and Finalize

Use screen binding clips to hold the back cover tightly in place. If clips are not available, rubber bands can be used as an alternative. Leave the phone secured for a while so the adhesive can set properly.

Once complete, power on the phone and test the new charging port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How do I know the charging port board is faulty and not the battery?
If the phone only charges at certain angles or shows no charging response with a good cable and adapter, the port board is usually the issue.

Q2: Can I replace only the USB port instead of the full board?
On most Samsung Galaxy models, the USB port is soldered to the board. Replacing the full charging port board is the safest and most practical option.

Q3: Why is my phone still not charging after replacing the board?
Check flex cable connections, charging IC damage, or debris inside the new port. Loose connectors are the most common cause.

Q4: Is fast charging affected after board replacement?
If you use an original or high-quality replacement board, fast charging should work normally.

Q5: Can a damaged charging port affect microphone or signal?
Yes. The charging port board often contains the primary microphone and antenna contacts, so failure can affect call quality and signal strength.

Q6: Can a faulty charging port board cause microphone issues?
Yes. Since the microphone is built into the board, damage can cause call muffling, low voice, or no mic response.

Q7: Will replacing the charging port board fix microphone problems?
If the issue is board-related, yes. Replacing it restores both charging and microphone functions.
