If your camera is blurry, not focusing, showing black screen, or not opening at all, replacing the camera modules can solve the issue. This guide is written in a beginner-friendly way, so follow each step carefully.

This guide is based on the Redmi K40, which shares identical design with the Poco F3 and Xiaomi Mi 11X / Xiaomi Mi 11i. These are rebranded regional models, but always watch for minor internal differences during the repair.

Tools Required

  • Mobile phone heating pad or hairdryer/heat gun
  • Plastic pry tool / card pry
  • Suction cups
  • Phillips #00/#000 screwdrivers
  • Torx (T2/T3/T4) screwdrivers
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Tweezers (for connectors)
  • B7000 glue or double-sided adhesive (for back cover)
  • Rubber bands or bonding clips to secure the back cover

Step-by-Step Camera Replacement

Step 1: Power Off & Remove SIM Tray

Turn off the phone and remove the SIM tray.


Step 2: Remove the Back Cover

  • Heat the edges to soften adhesive (heating pad recommended)
  • Use a suction cup to lift slightly
  • Insert a plastic card/pry tool
  • Cut through adhesive and remove the back cover carefully

Step 3: Remove the Board Frame

  • Undo 11 screws
  • Disconnect the flash connector
  • Remove the board frame

Step 4: Disconnect Battery

  • Unplug the battery connector (right-hand side)

Step 5: Disconnect Main Flex

  • Disconnect the main ribbon cable from the board

Step 6: Remove Front Camera

  • Apply slight heat if needed
  • Gently lift and disconnect the front camera module
  • Remove it carefully from the board

Step 7: Remove Rear Cameras

  • Disconnect the wide, ultra-wide, and macro cameras
  • Gently lift each module

⚠️ The main (wide) camera may have adhesive—release it carefully before removing


Step 8: Install New Rear Cameras

  • Place the new macro, ultra-wide, and wide cameras
  • Ensure connectors are properly aligned
  • Apply adhesive if required (especially for the main camera)

Step 9: Install New Front Camera

  • Place and secure the front camera module
  • Ensure proper alignment and connection

Step 10: Reconnect Components

  • Reconnect the main ribbon cable
  • Reconnect sensor and battery connectors

Step 11: Reassemble the Phone

  • Place the board frame
  • Secure with 11 screws

Step 12: Seal the Back Cover

Before closing:

  • Ensure enough adhesive is present
  • Use B7000 glue or new adhesive if needed

Press firmly:

  • Use clips or rubber bands
  • Leave for proper bonding
